Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Engineering

About the Opportunity: The SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER, CLOUD ENGINEERING, leads a team responsible for managing regulated and sovereign cloud environments, including compliance-constrained deployments such as FedRAMP and sovereign clusters. The role focuses on standardizing and accelerating the launch of accredited environments, enabling product teams to navigate regulatory requirements without added complexity. This position plays a critical role in ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable cloud infrastructure that supports government customers. Responsibilities: Own architecture and operation of regulated and sovereign environments across AWS and AzureLead standardization of environment builds into repeatable blueprintsEnsure sound technical decisions through reviews and prototypesPerform hands-on engineering, focusing on operational tooling and new projectsCollaborate with Security and Compliance teams to embed secure-by-default patternsMaintain accreditation health with timely vulnerability remediation and access reviewsSupport infrastructure with high SLAs, progressive deployment strategies, and multi-region redundancyRepresent the team in audits, assessments, and technical customer discussionsManage realistic planning and provide go-live dates for stakeholdersEstablish operational practices including runbooks, documentation, capacity planning, and incident responseManage environment costs and prioritize efficiency controlsTranslate regulatory constraints for product and commercial planningBuild relationships across teams to negotiate dependencies and prioritiesLead, coach, and develop engineers with full ownership of performance and career growthManage a distributed, globally dispersed teamAssess team structure, manage hiring processes, and collaborate with recruiting Requirements: Background in SRE or platform engineering leadershipExperience managing engineers with full performance and hiring responsibilities8+ years in building and operating cloud infrastructure, including end-to-end environment ownershipExperience delivering solutions into US federal or similar highly regulated government environmentsProduction experience with AWS and/or AzureStrong skills in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenTofu, etc.) and Kubernetes cluster managementStrong software engineering fundamentals and technical leadershipExperience designing tooling for air-gapped and compliance-heavy infrastructureProven track record establishing operational practices without impeding deliveryExperience leading distributed teams across time zones with strong communicationBS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience Nice to have: Eligibility for US security clearanceExperience with non-US national accreditation regimesExperience building compliance programs from inceptionStartup or high-growth technology company background Pay Range and Compensation Package: $240,000 - $280,000 annual base salary Benefits & Perks: Medical insuranceDental insurance401(k) Equal Opportunity Statement: Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
