# Software Engineer — Blue Domain ## About the Role Virtuagym is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Development team supporting the **Blue domain**, which focuses on billing and payments. In this role, you’ll help develop and maintain features across the billing and payments platform, contributing directly to experiences used by more than 35 million end-users. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, from refining product requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operation. The role offers significant ownership and collaboration within an agile/DevOps environment, with opportunities to contribute to architecture, product planning, development practices, and technical decision-making. ## Key Responsibilities * Design simple, scalable, maintainable, and practical software solutions. * Build on existing architecture and improve it using current engineering best practices. * Deliver features end-to-end, from technical design through production. * Develop and maintain billing and payments platform functionality. * Monitor production systems owned by the team and identify issues proactively. * Write useful technical documentation and diagrams. * Communicate progress, ask questions, seek feedback, and raise issues early. * Conduct constructive and effective code reviews. * Participate in Sprint and Product Backlog planning and contribute to product direction. * Pair or mob with teammates when collaborative development is beneficial. * Provide technical guidance and share knowledge with team members. * Contribute ideas and improvements to the team's agile and DevOps practices. * Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end testing suites. * Collaborate with Product Management to create actionable product specifications. * Participate in daily team rituals and contribute to continuous improvement across the Development Lifecycle. ## Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience. * 2–3 years of professional software development experience. * Experience building, testing, and maintaining software systems with a focus on testability, maintainability, observability, and reliability. * **Hands-on production experience with PHP — hard requirement.** * Experience with a relational database management system (RDBMS) and Entity Relationship Diagrams. * Experience with version control and Git workflows. * Knowledge of agile principles and their implementation, including Scrum and DevOps lifecycles. * Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. * Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Management and development teams. * Commitment to delivering high-quality, well-tested software. * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. ##
