About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowflake Engineer to join an Enterprise Data Platform team.
This is a key role responsible for designing, building, securing, and optimising modern cloud-based data platforms using Snowflake and Microsoft Azure.
The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, Azure data services, data architecture, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), data classification, and fine-grained access controls.
You will work closely with Solution Architects, Data Engineers, Security teams, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data solutions that support advanced analytics and enterprise data consumption.
Key Responsibilities
Snowflake & Azure Integration
Design and implement integrations between Snowflake and Azure cloud data platforms.Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ingestion frameworks.Work with Azure-native data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Azure Blob Storage.Support secure and efficient SQL-based data access across enterprise analytical platforms.
Data Platform Architecture
Contribute to the detailed technical design of the enterprise data platform.Translate solution architecture into robust and scalable technical implementations.Ensure platform designs align with enterprise data strategy, security standards, governance requirements, and performance objectives.Participate in technical design reviews and provide recommendations on platform capabilities and improvements.
Security & Access Control
Design and implement Snowflake RBAC and fine-grained access control models.Develop access policies based on data classification and sensitivity.Implement secure data-sharing and data-consumption patterns.Work closely with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure appropriate governance, auditability, and compliance.Support secure data access across different user groups, applications, and analytical workloads.Required Skills & Experience
10+ years' experience in Data Engineering, Cloud Data Platforms, or a similar technical role.Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including: Database and schema designSQL development and optimisationVirtual warehousesData loading and ingestionSecurity and access controlPerformance tuningStrong experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly: Azure Data FactoryAzure SynapseAzure Blob Storage / ADLSAzure-based data integration servicesStrong understanding of RBAC, data classification, data governance, and cloud security principles.Advanced SQL skills.Experience with scripting languages such as Python is highly desirable.
