Join Arup's Geotechnical team in Townsville and contribute to delivering innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to investigate ground conditions, deliver high-quality geotechnical designs, and provide technical advice that adds value throughout the project lifecycle.
This role offers the opportunity to lead field investigations, undertake complex engineering analyses, and help shape resilient infrastructure across a range of sectors.
The Opportunity
Deliver geotechnical design and analysis for infrastructure projects, including desktop studies, ground investigations, design calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical reports.
Plan, manage, and supervise geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing programs, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery.
Analyse field and laboratory data to develop practical geotechnical solutions, including slope stability assessments, remediation designs, and risk assessments.
Manage allocated project work packages while maintaining compliance with Arup's Quality Management System and delivering work to a high technical standard.
Build strong relationships with clients, project teams, contractors, and sub-consultants, providing trusted technical advice and contributing to successful project outcomes.

Is this role right for you?
A recognised tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, with Chartered status or progress towards Chartership with Engineers Australia (or an equivalent professional body).
At least 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering, with exposure to medium and large-scale infrastructure projects from investigation through to design and construction.
Proven experience planning, managing, supervising, and interpreting geotechnical investigations, including slope stability assessments and remediation design.
Proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical software such as gINT, OpenGround, Slope/W, PLAXIS, and Leapfrog, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, collaborate effectively, and consistently deliver high-quality work.
