About The Role
We are seeking a System Engineer for our Cloud Platform team, specializing in OpenStack and VMware technologies.
This role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within Germany.
As a vital member of the team, you will oversee the operational management of our multi-tenant cloud infrastructure, ensuring its stability, performance, and security.
Your responsibilities will include deploying customer-specific environments, maintaining platform components, and supporting migration projects.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a completed IT apprenticeship (such as Fachinformatiker Systemintegration), a degree in computer science, or an equivalent qualification.
Experience with cloud and virtualization platforms, particularly OpenStack and VMware vSphere/vCenter/ESXi, is essential.
Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, routing, firewalls) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS) is required.
Proficiency in Linux and/or Windows server administration, along with basic understanding of backup solutions like Veeam, Commvault, or Rubrik, and monitoring tools such as CheckMK or Prometheus, is also necessary.
Candidates should demonstrate a structured, self-organized work style, excellent communication skills in German, and a high motivation to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Willingness to participate in on-call duty and occasional onsite meetings (about once or twice a month) is expected.
For senior-level candidates, additional experience in managing multi-tenant platforms, automation with tools like Ansible, Terraform, or PowerCLI, and familiarity with ITIL processes are advantageous.
Proven experience in migration projects and technical responsibility for platform components will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain our multi-tenant cloud platforms based on OpenStack and VMware at various data center locations.Build and integrate network, firewall, storage, and compute components into existing platform landscapes.Manage the lifecycle of platform components, including monitoring, patching, firmware updates, and configuration changes.Provision and configure customer-specific environments within shared cloud platforms, including network segments, resources, and backup scopes.Execute migrations into the shared cloud environment, ensuring proper configuration and documentation.Implement customer-specific SLAs, backup objectives, and security policies.Operate and monitor central platform backups using tools like Veeam, Commvault, or Rubrik.Participate in incident, change, and problem management processes at both tenant and platform levels.Support housing operations, including remote support for customer hardware and operational monitoring.Utilize monitoring and event management to ensure SLA compliance and operational standards.Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support coverage.Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reliability.Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and configuration records.
