About The Role Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects supporting national security and space exploration initiatives. The position can be based in Aurora, CO, Morrisville, NC, or Sacramento, CA, providing flexibility for qualified candidates. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable infrastructure and automation pipelines that support rapid capability development and deployment. Your expertise will help streamline development processes, enhance system reliability, and ensure security compliance across complex environments. This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent collaboration skills, and a strong technical foundation to drive continuous improvement in our DevOps practices. Qualifications Candidates must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance that is current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access. An active CI Polygraph is also required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this role. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Principal level or 8 years for Senior Principal, with additional experience accepted in lieu of a degree. Candidates should have hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, along with a strong background in Linux or related operating systems. Security+ certification is preferred, with the ability to obtain it within six months of employment. Experience working within an Agile development environment and familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages are essential. Additional preferred qualifications include expertise in Kubernetes administration, AWS management, Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, NATS configuration, and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Loki. Responsibilities Responsible for planning, developing, and evolving processes and infrastructure to support rapid program capability maturation and deployment. Design and implement automated development pipelines integrating test-driven development tools, continuous integration, and continuous delivery frameworks. Establish and enforce standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring to ensure consistency and security across projects. Implement and maintain Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and automated testing practices within CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate with agile teams to automate deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management processes, ensuring seamless integration and delivery. Build and configure environments supporting CI/CD tools, leveraging agile methodologies to optimize deployment cycles. Create scripts and templates to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks. Work closely with development teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and implement solutions. Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security. Develop custom scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Contribute to the design and development of information and operational support systems. Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools. Oversee security protocols, backup strategies, and redundancy measures to safeguard critical systems. Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with developers to develop and implement solutions. Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance automation, security, and operational efficiency.
