ONSITE Principal / Sr. AI Software Engineer in either Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Merrimack, NH; or Roanoke VA ***MUST have a U.S. Citizenship to work for the U.S. DoD*** Preferred industry exp: Aerospace, Avionics, DoD, Federal Programs REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D., MSCS, or BSCS work 5-8+ years of AI Engineering experienceStrong Python coding & Python/Deep Learning Frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI, TensorFlow, Keras)plus one of GoLang, RUST, or TypeScript.Production experience deploying and operating open-weight models on self-managed infrastructure.Experience building AI/ML coding or developer tooling on SLM and LLMs (LangChain, Haystack) including code retrieval, context handling, and toolchain integration.Applied experience with LLM orchestration, retrieval, tool calling, and evaluation.Model Complex Protocol (MCP) servers, tool-calling integrations, or equivalent agent-to-system connectors delivered toproduction users.Open source contributions or published work in the agent, MCP, or open-weight model ecosystem.Systems integration depth across APIs, event streams, data pipelines, and identity.Track record of delivering complex technical work to production without close supervision. HIGHLY PREFERRED: Industry experience in the Aerospace, DoD, intelligence community, or Federal Programs.Authorization processes, accredited or air-gapped environments, and sovereign modeldeployment for mission users are of particular interest.Fine-tuning, distillation, or model adaptation with measurable results.
