About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Front-End Developer to join our team at BNY.
In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping and evolving our design system, ensuring it is scalable, reusable, and maintainable across various digital products.
Your primary focus will be on developing web components that serve as the foundational building blocks for our user interfaces, supporting multiple brand identities and user preferences through advanced theming solutions.
You will work closely with designers, product managers, and fellow developers to translate design principles into functional, high-quality code that enhances user experience and maintains consistency across applications.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in front-end development, with a significant focus on design system creation and management.
You should have expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with deep expertise in modern front-end frameworks such as Angular and React.
A strong command of CSS, including pre-processors, advanced styling techniques, CSS variables, and color systems, is essential.
Experience working with Web Components and applying them at scale is highly desirable.
You should have a proven track record of scaling design systems, managing complex theming architectures, and deploying components in production environments.
Familiarity with version control, dependency management, and packaged assets within a component library context is required.
Excellent communication skills, a keen eye for visual and interactive detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams are critical for success in this role.
A passion for creating clear documentation and working code demonstrations is also highly valued.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and continuous evolution of BNY’s design system, emphasizing reusability, scalability, and maintainability of components.Architect and implement web components that serve as the core building blocks for user interfaces across various applications.Drive sophisticated theming solutions to support diverse brand identities and user preferences, utilizing CSS variables, variable stacking, and advanced color management techniques.Manage the full lifecycle of design system components, including development, deployment, versioning, and ongoing maintenance to ensure stability and consistency.Oversee library and package dependency management to maintain a stable and efficient development environment.Collaborate closely with design, product, and engineering teams to translate design concepts into technical solutions that meet business and user needs.Promote best practices in front-end development, focusing on performance optimization, accessibility, and responsive design.Mentor and guide junior developers and team members on design system principles, implementation strategies, and coding standards.Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, guidelines, and code demonstrations to facilitate effective component usage and integration.Participate in code reviews, contribute to team knowledge sharing, and stay updated on emerging front-end technologies and trends.
Benefits
BNY offers a competitive compensation package aligned with market standards, with the base salary for this role expected to range between $95,000 and $209,000 annually.
The final compensation will be determined based on individual experience, skill set, and geographic location.
In addition to base salary, the total package may include performance-based bonuses, discretionary incentives, long-term incentive plans, and comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
