Description

Location: South Jordan, Utah Work Arrangement: Full-time, in-office About the Role We are looking for an entry-level Software Engineer to join our team in South Jordan, Utah. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in software development who understands how different parts of a modern application work together. You will work primarily on backend development using Python and SQL, while also working with TypeScript and various APIs and integrations. We are looking for someone with well-rounded technical knowledge who can understand, troubleshoot, and build systems that connect applications, databases, and external services. What You’ll Work With * Python for backend development and application logic * SQL for querying and working with databases * TypeScript for application and frontend development * REST APIs and third-party API integrations * Webhooks and event-driven integrations * Backend functions and application logic * JSON and data exchange * Database-driven applications * Authentication and API requests/responses * Integrating different systems and services What We’re Looking For * 0–2 years of professional software development experience, including internships or relevant projects * Strong foundational knowledge of programming concepts * Familiarity with Python and SQL * Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript * Understanding of APIs, HTTP requests, JSON, and webhooks * Understanding of how frontend applications, backend services, APIs, and databases interact * Strong problem-solving and debugging skills * Ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly * Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a team * Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of projects A Well-Rounded Engineer We value breadth of knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn over expertise in one specific technology. You don’t need to be an expert in every technology listed above. We are looking for someone who understands the fundamentals and can reason through how different components of a software system fit together. For example, you should be comfortable understanding a workflow such as: Frontend → API request → Python backend → business logic → SQL database → API response You should also understand how external systems can communicate with our applications through APIs and webhooks. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field * Experience building personal, academic, or professional software projects * Experience working with REST APIs * Experience integrating third-party services * Familiarity with Git and version control * Familiarity with cloud platforms or modern deployment environments * Experience debugging existing applications or codebases What Success Looks Like In this role, you’ll gradually take ownership of software features and integrations, contribute to existing applications, troubleshoot issues, and build new functionality. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, hands-on, and eager to grow as an engineer. You don’t need to know everything on day one—you need to have strong fundamentals, think logically, and be willing to figure things out.
