About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Software Engineer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, modernizing, and maintaining sophisticated web applications tailored for the financial services domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, product managers, and other developers, to design innovative solutions that meet real-world customer needs. Your expertise will help us navigate complex technical landscapes, implement secure coding practices, and deliver scalable, high-quality software products. Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, demonstrating a strong command of modern programming languages and frameworks.Proven hands-on experience with PHP 8, Node.js, NPM, Angular 17+, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Git, REST APIs, and modern web application development practices.Extensive experience maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting legacy PHP applications, along with modernizing monolithic architectures and migrating functionalities to Angular and Node.js solutions.Solid understanding of application security principles, including identifying and remediating vulnerabilities such as OWASP Top 10 risks, implementing secure coding practices, and managing authentication and authorization protocols.Experience working with relational databases, particularly MySQL, and designing/consuming RESTful APIs for enterprise system integrations.Proficiency in writing automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end) and applying Test Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban), CI/CD practices, and containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, along with enterprise identity management protocols including OAuth, OIDC, and SAML.Any additional experience with legacy PHP frameworks (e.g., CodeIgniter), application security tools (Mend, SonarQube), and vulnerability remediation is a plus. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing scalable software solutions that align with project requirements and business goals. Participating in system design sessions and providing technical guidance to team members will be vital to ensure best practices are followed. You will support the modernization efforts of legacy PHP applications, migrating functionalities to more efficient frameworks like Angular and Node.js, and enhancing application security measures. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with peers during Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement and transparency. Conducting code reviews, writing automated tests, and ensuring comprehensive unit and integration testing are integral parts of your role to maintain high-quality standards. You will also be involved in troubleshooting technical issues, addressing performance bottlenecks, and implementing solutions that are maintainable and scalable. Furthermore, you will contribute to system architecture discussions, capture requirements, and support the deployment of applications in containerized environments. Your expertise in security best practices will help identify vulnerabilities, support penetration testing efforts, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
