An Australian technology and engineering organisation specialising in automation and control systems.is continuing to grow its product development team and is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to support the design and development of next-generation controller technology.
This is a product development role focused on electronics and embedded hardware.
You'll be involved across the full hardware development lifecycle, from schematic design and component selection through to PCB layout, prototyping, testing, debugging, compliance, and production.
We're looking for an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys hands-on product development and can take hardware projects from concept through to production.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign analogue and digital electronic circuits for embedded control products.Develop schematics and PCB designs using Altium Designer.Select and evaluate electronic components based on performance, availability, cost, and lifecycle considerations.Develop microcontroller-based embedded hardware and associated interfaces.Manage PCB layout and design reviews, ensuring designs meet functional, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.Build and test prototypes, including hands-on bench testing and hardware debugging.Diagnose and resolve hardware issues throughout the development and testing process.Support EMC, compliance, and product validation testing.Work with contract manufacturers to transition designs into production.Provide sustaining engineering support for existing products, including component obsolescence and redesign activities.Review and improve existing hardware designs to maintain product availability and performance.Work closely with firmware, software, engineering, and production teams throughout the product development lifecycle.Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design records, and manufacturing documentation.Contribute to the development of next-generation controller and automation technology.RequirementsDegree or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related discipline.Strong commercial experience in electronics hardware design and product development.Demonstrated experience designing analogue and digital electronic circuits.Experience with microcontroller-based hardware design.Strong PCB design experience, ideally using Altium Designer.Experience taking electronic products from schematic and prototype through to testing and production.Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment for testing and debugging electronic hardware.Understanding of EMC, compliance, and hardware validation requirements.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware at component and system level.Experience working with contract manufacturers and supporting products through production.Ability to work across both new product development and sustaining engineering activities.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across engineering and production teams.Apply now or send your resume directly to frances@profoundpeople.com.au for a confidential discussion.
