Senior Product Engineer – AI-Native Consumer Health
New York City | 4–5 days on-site | $200,000–$230,000 + 0.2%–0.5% equity
We are supporting a rapidly scaling, AI-first preventative health and wellness platform with the appointment of a Senior Product Engineer.
The business is pioneering insurance-covered personal training and nutrition coaching, combining AI with expert human coaches to improve long-term health outcomes.
It has raised approximately $11m, is profitable and has experienced exceptional growth over the past year.
This is not a conventional engineering role where Product decides what to build and passes over a specification.
You will own major product areas end-to-end—speaking directly with users, identifying high-value problems, shaping the product and shipping production features.
The opportunity
You will join a lean team of three senior product engineers and work directly with the Founder and CEO.
You will:
• Own product areas from user research and specification through design, engineering and launch
• Speak directly with coaches and clients to understand what should be built
• Build consumer and coach-facing experiences across web and mobile
• Develop AI-powered recommendations across exercise, nutrition, sleep and behaviour change
• Build systems that help coaches identify risks, improve engagement and determine the next best action for each client
• Use AI agents and agentic workflows to ship faster while maintaining quality and stability
• Develop tests, specifications and planning frameworks that improve AI-generated code
• Help shape the wider product roadmap and technical direction
We would like to speak with candidates who offer:
• 3+ years of full-stack product engineering experience
• Strong production experience with React, JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience across Node.js, AWS and relational databases such as MySQL
• Current, practical use of tools such as Cursor, Claude, Codex or ChatGPT
• Experience building AI-powered features and improving LLM outputs through evaluations, prompting, experimentation or fine-tuning
• Strong product judgment and the ability to translate user feedback directly into code
• Evidence of entrepreneurial ownership—perhaps as a founder, early startup employee or builder of an independent consumer product
• The confidence to work autonomously and make decisions about both what to build and how to build it
Experience within consumer health, fitness, wellness, insurance-covered care or another high-growth consumer platform would be particularly relevant.
Candidates whose experience has been limited to implementing specifications created by others are unlikely to be suited.
The successful person will be an AI-native builder with genuine product taste, user empathy and commercial curiosity.
Package and location
$200,000–$230,000 base salary plus approximately 0.2%–0.5% equity.
The role is based in SoHo, New York City, with an expectation of working from the office four to five days per week.
Relocation support may be available, but candidates must already hold unrestricted US work authorisation as visa sponsorship is not offered.
