About The Role Raytheon is seeking an experienced Product Owner to join the Patriot Cybersecurity organization in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. This onsite role is pivotal in leading cybersecurity innovation and securing the development of emerging software, hardware, and integrated capabilities within the Patriot system. The successful candidate will serve as the primary driver of cybersecurity modernization initiatives, guiding advanced assessment activities, ethical hacking phases, vulnerability discovery, threat analysis, and mitigation strategies to enhance the resilience of the Patriot system against evolving cyber threats. The Product Owner will oversee a Scrum team, including a Scrum Master and practitioners, to ensure the agile delivery of new cyber capabilities aligned with strategic cybersecurity objectives. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Owner and the Cross Platform Team Lead, this individual will influence technical direction, security posture, development priorities, and product roadmaps. The role requires minimal oversight, managing moderately sized projects or processes, and contributing significantly to the modernization strategy and development of next-generation cyber capabilities. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field coupled with at least 8 years of relevant cybersecurity, engineering, or technical product leadership experience. An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret level) is mandatory prior to starting employment, and U.S. citizenship is required to qualify for security clearance eligibility. The candidate should demonstrate advanced expertise in cybersecurity fundamentals, compliance requirements, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes based on NIST standards. Hands-on experience in vulnerability assessment, ethical hacking, kill chain analysis, and remediation is essential. Familiarity with NSA (FIPS), NIST (SP 800 series), DISA STIGs, and USCYBERCOM cybersecurity guidance is highly desirable. The candidate must have proficiency in secure configuration and administration of Windows, RHEL, and common network platforms such as Cisco. Experience with cybersecurity tools like Nessus, ACAS, OpenVAS, SCC, STIG Viewer, and evaluation of STIGs is required. Leadership experience in Agile environments, particularly working with Scrum teams, and the ability to define and communicate technical user stories and acceptance criteria are also crucial. Additional qualifications include the ability to analyze complex cybersecurity test results, threat behaviors, and data to drive informed decisions, along with excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineering, stakeholders, and leadership teams effectively. Responsibilities Serve as the Product Owner for one of the Scrum Teams within Patriot Cyber, leading product vision and backlog management for emerging cybersecurity capabilities across software, hardware, and network components.Conduct advanced penetration testing, ethical hacking, threat modeling, attack surface analysis, and system hardening recommendations to identify vulnerabilities and improve system security.Utilize structured frameworks such as the Ethical Hacking Phases and Cyber Kill Chain to guide vulnerability identification and adversary technique assessment.Perform vulnerability scans, assessments, and translate findings into prioritized risks, mitigation plans, and cybersecurity roadmap updates.Drive application security analysis and incorporate secure development requirements into modernization initiatives for Patriot software components.Integrate outputs from scanning tools, penetration tests, CVA results, RMF updates, and exploitation research into sprint planning and product development decisions.Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture artifacts, requirements, strategies, design documents, and security policies supporting modernization efforts.Guide the creation and refinement of RMF/ATO documentation, including SSP sections, POA&Ms, SAR inputs, PPSM entries, SBOM updates, hardware/software lists, and other CDRLs.Partner with engineering teams, platform owners, and stakeholders to evaluate solutions and ensure secure system enhancements.Collaborate with leadership to align product priorities, resolve cross-platform dependencies, and influence cybersecurity modernization strategies.Investigate complex cyber issues independently, gather technical data, analyze findings, and recommend system-level improvements.Communicate regularly with internal programs, external partners, and cross-disciplinary teams to promote secure development practices and influence cybersecurity policies and standards.
