Digital Engineering & Systems Transformation is aimed at leveraging advanced technologies and enablers to drive engineering innovation, speed, and efficiency. This role is aligned to the Digital Engineering & Systems Transformation department. MITRE is seeking an early-career Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver full-stack applications and data-driven capabilities that support sponsor missions. The successful candidate will work across the software development lifecycle — building web applications, integrating cloud services and data pipelines, and applying modern AI/ML tools — alongside a collaborative, multi-disciplined team. Roles & Responsibilities: Developing and maintaining full-stack web applications using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot, and Flask.Building and integrating RESTful APIs, microservices, and data services across cloud and on-premise environments.Writing clean, well-tested code in Python, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript across the software development lifecycle.Containerizing and deploying applications using Docker and supporting CI/CD workflows on cloud platforms such as AWS.Designing and working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) to support application and data needs.Applying modern AI/ML tools, large language models, and AI-assisted coding workflows to accelerate development and improve software quality.Collaborating with engineers, designers, and stakeholders in an Agile environment to deliver sponsor-focused solutions. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics)0–2 years of relevant experience in hands-on software development, including internships, co-ops, or full-time rolesPractical understanding of the software development lifecycle, with experience using modern programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScriptExperience developing full-stack or web applications using modern frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Node.js, Spring Boot, or Flask)Foundational understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker)Experience working with databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) and version control with GitStrong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, with demonstrated ability to learn new tools and technologies quicklyThis position requires a minimum of 3 days a week on-site.
