Senior Solutions Architect

100% Remote Schedule: Full-time; occasional flexible hours as needed [to be clarified] Engagement: 12-month contract with potential for contract-to-hire Overview A connected health and wellness technology company is seeking a senior Solutions Architect to design secure, scalable, and supportable solutions across its technology ecosystem. The ecosystem spans: Enterprise applications (Salesforce, NetSuite, Celigo)AWS and Azure cloud platformsIoT and connected devicesTelecommunicationsReal-time health and safety servicesThis is a senior individual contributor role. You will own architecture from business requirements through design, technical decisions, and implementation guidance, and partner with Engineering, Security, Data, Product, and business leaders. Responsibilities Solution & Integration Architecture Design end-to-end solutions across Salesforce, NetSuite, Celigo, telecom platforms, device systems, and cloud services.Architect member and care-team services, wellness services, and real-time alerting.Wellness services cover heart rate, sleep, activity, location, and care insights.Real-time alerting covers falls, SOS events, and heart-rate breaches.Design a dual-datastore strategy: NoSQL for operational data and a time-series database for sensor data, with PHI-at-rest controls.Define integration patterns, REST APIs, event-driven processes, data flows, and system-of-record decisions.Identify platform consolidation and modernization opportunities.Produce architecture documents, system diagrams, integration maps, technical standards, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).Cloud, Data & Resiliency Design multi-cloud solutions on AWS and Azure.Set standards for environments, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and operational support.Define data boundaries, consistency models, storage strategies, and lifecycle practices across NoSQL and time-series platforms.Define and validate non-functional requirements (NFRs): performance, scalability, availability, reliability, maintainability, security, cost, and recoverability.Validate NFRs through load, capacity, failover, and performance testing.Security, Compliance & Governance Apply secure-by-design practices: threat modeling, IAM, encryption, API security, vulnerability management, penetration-test remediation, and zero-trust principles.Partner with Security and Compliance on HIPAA, FCC, PCI, accessibility, and privacy requirements.Establish architecture review practices, reference patterns, and technical guardrails.Maintain current-state and future-state architecture documentation.Technical Leadership Act as technical advisor on complex, cross-functional, multi-system initiatives.Communicate options, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to engineers, Product, and executives.Lead architecture reviews, guide implementation, and mentor engineers.Required Qualifications 8+ years in solutions, enterprise, integration, or cloud architecture.Personal ownership of complex, multi-system designs from requirements through implementation.Experience designing API-based (REST), event-driven, and distributed system architectures.Experience with enterprise applications and integration platforms: Salesforce, NetSuite, Celigo, or comparable (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi).Experience integrating those platforms with surrounding systems.Cloud architecture experience on AWS and/or Azure: HA, DR, scalability, resiliency, security, and IaC.Experience defining NFRs for production systems: performance, availability, reliability, maintainability, and disaster recovery.Strong technical writing and communication, including leading architecture reviews and influencing teams through tradeoff discussions.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Preferred Qualifications Healthcare (strong plus): architecting systems that handle PHI under HIPAA requirements.Application architecture: React.js and modern web application architecture, including front-end integration with backend and cloud services.IoT and connected devices:Device-to-cloud integration and telemetry ingestionDevice provisioning, device management, and over-the-air (OTA) updatesNear-real-time alertingData and streaming:NoSQL and time-series databases (DynamoDB, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB)Event streaming with Kafka / Confluent KafkaSecurity architecture: threat modeling, zero-trust architecture, IAM, secure API design, secure SDLC, and vulnerability management.Telecom and real-time communications: contact center, CPaaS, UCaaS, SIP, WebRTC, or captioning platforms.Mobile push notifications: APNs and FCM.SLAs and SLOs: defining and validating them, plus cloud migration experience.Regulated environments: wellness, safety-critical, telecom, or other regulated settings, including HIPAA, FCC, PCI, and accessibility requirements.Device engineering partnership: working with embedded, firmware, mobile, or device engineering teams.Architecture governance: ADRs, reference architectures, and architecture repositories.
