As a Sr Software Engineer at Optum Rx, you will join an innovative engineering team responsible for building and maintaining Rx microproducts-portable UI packages deployed across both member-facing and agent-facing applications. In this role, you will bridge the gap between web and mobile platforms using a unified JavaScript and TypeScript ecosystem based on React and React Native. You will translate complex designs into pixel-perfect, highly reusable components, architect scalable state management solutions, integrate backend services, and leverage AI capabilities and enterprise automation tools to optimize workflows and deliver digital pharmacy microproducts. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Primary Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain portable Rx microproduct UI packages that seamlessly integrate into both member-facing and agent-facing applicationsDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and intelligent component architectures to address complex pharmacy and healthcare technology challenges with an emphasis on responsible AI usageLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools and automation frameworks to streamline development workflows, optimize code generation, and drive continuous software delivery improvementsTranslate Figma and Adobe XD wireframes into pixel-perfect, clean, reusable, and maintainable components using React for web and React Native for mobile applicationsUtilize Material-UI (MUI) and modern UI toolkits to construct, scale, and maintain dynamic multi-theme systems across member and agent applicationsBuild and manage complex application state, user flows, data persistence, and caching mechanisms using Redux or React Context APIConnect front-end user interfaces to backend microservices, cloud databases, and third-party APIs using RESTful services and GraphQLOptimize application performance across environments by minimizing web bundle sizes, tuning Virtual DOM rendering, ensuring smooth 60fps mobile animations, and debugging memory leaksWrite automated unit and integration tests using Jest, Detox, and Playwright to maintain high codebase stability and quality across microproduct packagesManage cross-environment deployment pipelines and mobile app publishing workflows through Apple App Store Connect, Google Play Console, and Expo Application Services (EAS)Evaluate emerging technology trends and modern AI tools to inform solution design, application architecture, and strategic team innovation You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional software engineering experience specializing in front-end web and mobile application development3+ years of experience building applications using React for web and React Native for mobile environments3+ years of experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, including ES6+ syntax, asynchronous programming, custom hooks, and component lifecycle management3+ years of experience with HTML5, CSS3 layout techniques (Flexbox, CSS Grid), and modern UI frameworks like Material-UI (MUI) or Tailwind CSS3+ years of experience with state management libraries (Redux, React Context API) and API integrations (RESTful APIs, GraphQL)2+ years of experience integrating AI tools, automation frameworks, or intelligent assistant tools into development workflows and applications2+ years of experience writing automated unit and integration tests using frameworks such as Jest, Detox, or Playwright2+ years of experience with code version control (Git) and asset compilation build toolchains (Webpack, Vite, Babel, NPM)1+ years of experience managing mobile release workflows through Apple App Store Connect, Google Play Console, or Expo Application Services (EAS) Preferred Qualifications Experience developing modular, portable UI micro-frontends or microproducts deployed across multiple host platformsExperience with server-side rendering (SSR) frameworks like Next.js for search engine optimization and speedProficiency navigating structural differences in React Native, including experience with Expo ecosystems and bare React Native workflowsDemonstrated systemic problem-solving skills with the ability to isolate bug behavior between web browser environments and native mobile operating systemsExperience building pharmacy benefit management, digital health, or prescription technology platformsReside in Schaumberg, ILAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
