We are engaged in the sales of a wide variety of welding-related products—including welding robots, specialized machines, peripheral equipment for specialized machines, general-purpose machines, electrodes, and control components—primarily serving Japanese companies involved in the automotive industry. Hikari Trading Co. is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role will be to oversee the electrical design and control of automated machines, specialized machines, welding lines, and other equipment used in automotive parts production. What You Will be Doing Leading and managing electrical and controls projects for new production equipment used in automotive partsDesigning and implementing PLC systems for new production equipment used in automotive parts manufacturingCoordinating and managing external mechanical/electrical vendors, contractors, and design teams to ensure smooth completion of projectsServe as the primary technical coordinator between customers, external vendors, and equipment manufacturersPreparing project cost estimates, schedules, and managing risk assessments, as well as monitoring project progress from design to implementationPerforming and supervising equipment modification on-site for customersSupport equipment commissioning and startup on-site for customersAnalyze and troubleshoot existing equipment in operation to resolve technical issuesReview electrical designs, drawings, control specifications, and vendor proposals as neededProvide technical guidance and leadership to engineers, technicians, and external partnersAs the engineering team grows, supervise, train, and mentor internal engineering staffOur territory covers from Canada to Mexico, offering on-site modifications and commissioning support to our customers at their facilities. Travel to customers in and out of state is required for this position. What We are Looking For Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical system design and implementationProficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or similar toolsExperience with PLC programming (OMRON, Mitsubishi, etc.), electrical wiring, and circuit designExperience managing engineering projects, external vendors, contractors, or cross-functional technical teamsStrong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work effectively with customers, vendors, and internal teams in a project leadership role Added Bonus if You Have Bilingual ability in Japanese and EnglishExperience working with welding equipment This is a full-time (non-exempt) position with working hours of 8:30 AM-5:30 PM. We also offer a flex-time system, as well. Overtime may be required depending on project progress.
