Summary ✨ AI‑Generated

Own a cloud platform end to end, covering AWS infrastructure, Go-based services, monitoring, security, reliability, and a low-latency live video pipeline. You will optimize streaming performance, analyze buffering and delivery behavior, track system-wide KPIs, and build reliable infrastructure for real-time video applications.

Highlights

High-ownership engineering role spanning AWS infrastructure, Go services, live video delivery, performance optimization, security, reliability, and end-to-end observability. The work involves technically demanding real-time systems with measurable performance impact.

Description

DefendEye builds AI-powered drones for first responders and law enforcement. The live video our drones stream is the heart of the product, and DefendEye Cloud is what carries it from the drone to the browser in seconds. We need one expert to own it. You will run DefendEye Cloud end to end: the AWS infrastructure, the Go services, and the live video pipeline. What you will do Own and manage DefendEye Cloud on AWS: architecture, deployment, monitoring, security, reliability, and cost.Run the live video pipeline end to end: ingest into AWS, fragment and segment creation, HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) packaging, and delivery to the browser. Today it is pure H.265, with no transcoding to H.264.Cut latency. Find where every second goes, from segment and fragment size to sender and player buffering, and remove it.Track KPIs across the whole chain, from drone and ground station to upload, AWS ingest, and browser playback: bitrate, dropped frames, queue depth, jitter, and rebuffering.Build and maintain our backend in Go. Most of our code is written in Go.Work with our drone and embedded engineers to test in real field conditions. What you bring 5+ years building and running cloud systems, with expert-level AWS across the stack: compute, networking, storage, IAM, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability.Production experience with real-time video and broadcast, including HLS and the full HLS workflow: segmenting, manifests, buffering, and player behavior.Strong knowledge of video codecs and compression, especially H.265/HEVC and H.264: bitrate control, keyframes and GOP structure, and the trade-off between quality and latency.Strong Go (Golang) in production.Comfort on the browser side: HLS players such as hls.js, plus JavaScript or TypeScript.Solid networking basics: HTTP/TCP, RTP, packet loss, and jitter.Low-Latency HLS, SRT or WebRTC; FFmpeg or GStreamer; Fluent English, and you are ready to work full-time, in person, in our Kraków office now. (We are looking for candidates that can start working in 30 days or earlier only). Nice to have AWS media services (for example Kinesis Video Streams, MediaLive, MediaPackage, CloudFront); experience with drones, robotics, or other field devices streaming live video; a security-first mindset, since our users are first responders and law enforcement. What we offer Full ownership of the platform at the center of our product.Work that matters: your code helps responders find people faster.A fast-moving team with short decision paths, working in person with the people who build the drones.
