Our customers range from Dutch to wider EU to NATO allies. Role Description The Electrical Engineer (Defence, UAV, RF) role at Aerlijn B.V. is a full-time, on-site position based in Amsterdam. In this role, the engineer designs, develops, and tests electrical and electronic subsystems for interceptor platforms, communication equipment and UAV-based air defense solutions, with a strong focus on RF and communication systems. Daily tasks include schematic design, PCB development, component selection, and integration of sensors, power systems, and RF modules. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to perform system-level integration, troubleshoot hardware issues, run simulations and lab measurements, and support qualification, compliance, and documentation. The role also involves optimizing designs for reliability in harsh environments, contributing to continuous improvement of existing systems, and supporting prototype builds and field trials. Qualifications Strong foundation in electrical and electronic engineering, including circuit design, PCB layout, and embedded hardware development.Experience with RF engineering, such as antennas, RF front-ends, signal integrity, and testing of communication links for UAV and defense applications.Background in defense, aerospace, or UAV systems, including integration of sensors, power management, and avionics or guidance systems.Proficiency with engineering tools and workflows, such as CAD/EDA software, simulation tools, lab measurement equipment, and version control. KiCad!Ability to interpret technical documentation, write clear reports, and maintain accurate design and test records.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, with strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to hardware.Comfort working in an on-site laboratory and workshop environment, including prototyping, assembly oversight, and hardware debugging.Working proficiency in English; knowledge of Dutch or other European languages is an advantage.
