To support our strong growth, we are looking for a Senior Human Factors Engineer, autonomous and capable of supporting the design, assessment, and validation of complex safety-critical systems.
Responsibilities:
Lead Human Factors Engineering and ergonomics activities across the system development lifecycle.Conduct task analysis, workload assessment, human reliability analysis, situation awareness, and operational scenario analysis.Evaluate Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), operator displays, alarms, controls, workstation and control-room layouts.Support design/assessment of control rooms, command-and-control environments, and operator consoles.Run scenario-based evaluations and human-in-the-loop validation.Identify human-performance risks and define design requirements/mitigations.Contribute to system requirements development, traceability, and verification.Prepare technical reports and controlled engineering deliverables.Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, and customer review cycles.Facilitate multidisciplinary workshops and support resolution of technical/customer comments.Support compliance assessments against Human Factors, ergonomics, and safety standards.
Profile:
Education:
Bachelor's in Engineering, Human Factors, Ergonomics or any related field.
Experience:
5+ years of professional experience in Human Factors Engineering, ergonomics, human-system integration, or a related discipline.Significant experience with complex or safety-critical systems (transportation, aerospace, defence, energy, industrial automation, or similar).Demonstrated experience in several of: human reliability, task analysis, workload assessment, situation awareness, alarm management, control-room ergonomics, HMI evaluation, operational scenario analysis, human-in-the-loop validation.Experience with operator-facing or mission-critical systems (control centres, command-and-control systems, operator displays, monitoring systems, signalling/control applications).Experience preparing formal and controlled engineering documentation.Experience supporting engineering design reviews, safety reviews, and structured customer comment cycles.Ability to work within requirements-management and configuration-controlled environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; able to facilitate multidisciplinary technical workshops with engineering teams, customers, and stakeholders.
Standards & Technical Knowledge:
ISO 6385, ISO 9241, ISO 10075, ISO 11064, MIL-STD-1472, CSA Z412, and sector-specific RAMS/Human Factors standards (rail, aerospace, defence, nuclear are assets).
