Software Engineer - Kotlin/Java

For our client, a leading e-commerce and digital marketplace organization developing innovative solutions in the automotive domain, we are currently looking for a Specialist for the position of Software Engineer (Kotlin/Java). Service delivery model: RemoteStart Date: ASAP Cooperation: 12 months Cooperation type: B2B, through Hays Poland Language: English (minimum B2) Project Description: The project focuses on the development of an automotive business area within a large-scale e-commerce ecosystem as part of a "store-in-store" initiative. The selected contractor will provide services related to the design, development, and evolution of backend solutions, contributing not only to implementation activities but also to architecture discussions, solution design, and collaboration with product and business stakeholders. The project requires professionals who combine strong backend engineering expertise with a proactive approach, effective communication skills, and ownership of delivered solutions. Technology Environment: Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, or similar agentic coding solutions) Scope of services: Design and develop backend services using Kotlin and Java Deliver scalable solutions based on microservice architecture principles Build and maintain REST API integrations Contribute to technical solution design and architecture discussions Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to refine and deliver project requirements Support continuous improvement of development practices through modern engineering tools, including AI-assisted coding solutions Ensure high-quality service delivery through proactive problem-solving and effective communication Required competencies: Commercial experience as a Mid+ or Senior Backend Engineer Strong hands-on expertise in Kotlin and Java Experience with Spring Boot Practical knowledge of microservices architecture Experience designing and developing REST APIs Practical day-to-day use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenCode, or similar agentic coding solutions Ability to contribute to solution design and architectural discussions Strong communication skills and proactive approach to service delivery Availability for occasional project meetings in Warsaw, Poznań, or Kraków Polish language proficiency at native level English language proficiency at B2 level or higher Nice to have: MongoDB Spring Data MongoDB Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Frontend development experience Mobile development experience Cooperation process: Profile and experience review by the Hays teamA conversation with a Hays consultant about the project and scope of servicesA technical meeting with project representatives (up to 2 stages)Agreement on cooperation termsWelcome to the project!
