Highlights

First in-house engineering hire with substantial ownership of an existing platform and the opportunity to lead its engineering direction. Equity is available for the right candidate, with direct impact on a growing product and global expansion.

Description

ALYRT is on a mission to give 1 million SMEs around the world the cashflow support they need to survive and grow. We're a New Zealand-built AI operating-intelligence platform for SMEs and their advisers. We connect live banking, accounting and fragmented business data, then use AI and real financial expertise to turn it into forward-looking cashflow visibility and practical next steps for business owners. ALYRT was founded by an insolvency practitioner who has seen SMEs fail unnecessarily because they had no visibility over their cash position. We built ALYRT to be part of the solution, not just the clean-up crew. We're currently in Ministry of Awesome's Founder Catalyst programme, and we're going global. Founding Full Stack Engineer Full-time · Hybrid (Auckland) · Equity available for the right fit This is our first in-house engineering hire. The product is built and customers are using it. Now we're bringing engineering in-house. You'll take ownership of the platform, lead the handover from our current development partner, and work directly with founders Larissa and Luke to shape what ALYRT becomes next. You won't inherit a narrow slice of someone else's product. You'll move between product decisions, architecture, integrations and production issues, and you'll have a real say in the technical roadmap. You'll also help decide what gets kept, rebuilt or redesigned as we scale. Our stack: - Next.js and TypeScript - Supabase / Postgres - Vercel - GitLab and CI - Multiple external banking, accounting and data integrations - A multi-LLM AI architecture using Claude, Grok and other models AI is at the centre of ALYRT, not a feature added on the side. We deliberately build across multiple models to optimise for reliability, capability and resilience instead of depending on a single provider. You'll probably enjoy this if: - You like having an architecture conversation and fixing something in production on the same afternoon - You're comfortable making a call when the answer isn't obvious - You care whether the underlying data is right, not just whether the screen looks right - You understand that when our software shows a number, a business owner may use it to decide on payroll, hiring, cash or investment. For some of them, it's the number that decides whether they keep the doors open. What success looks like in your first four months: - The platform has moved in-house smoothly - You understand the architecture and data flows end to end - Development priorities and technical debt are visible and under control - Our release process is reliable - Customers are using features you designed and shipped Qualifications - Strong full-stack engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript and Next.js - Experience designing and maintaining production systems - Experience integrating third-party APIs and handling messy real-world data - Hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI systems - Sound engineering judgement and a record of shipping reliable production code - The confidence to take ownership rather than wait for detailed instructions - A problem solver who can explain a technical trade-off to a founder or a customer Experience in fintech, SaaS, accounting systems or financial data would be a bonus, but isn't essential. We have plenty of accountants. We need an engineer. And we care about what you've built, not where you studied. Why join now? We want to build ALYRT into a major global platform for SME operating intelligence, starting from here in Aotearoa. You'll be early enough to shape how the product, the engineering team and the company itself get built. This is more than an engineering job. It's a founding seat in the business. How to apply: Get in touch with Larissa@alyrt.ai or Luke@alyrt.ai. Tell us about a system you rescued: something broken, messy or close to falling over, and how you turned it around. We like a good turnaround story.
