About The Role
Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking a highly skilled Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical projects supporting advanced space systems and national security initiatives.
The position can be based in Aurora, Colorado; Morrisville, North Carolina; or Sacramento, California, providing flexibility to candidates across these locations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support rapid capability development and deployment.
This role requires a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation tools, and agile methodologies to ensure seamless integration and delivery of complex systems.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an active U.S.
Government Top Secret security clearance, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
An active CI Polygraph is also required at the time of application.
U.S.
citizenship is mandatory.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of relevant experience for Principal level or eight years for Senior Principal, with additional experience in lieu of a degree as applicable.
Proven expertise in cloud services such as AWS, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code with Terraform is essential.
Candidates should also have experience with Linux administration, agile development practices, and automation scripting.
Security+ certification is preferred, with the ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
Preferred qualifications include advanced knowledge of AWS administration, Kubernetes management, Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
Responsibilities
The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable, automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines that support rapid development cycles.
Key responsibilities include planning and evolving processes and infrastructure to support program goals, integrating development pipelines with automation and test-driven development tools, and defining standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring.
The engineer will implement and enforce software configuration management practices, ensure code quality and coverage through automated testing, and work within Agile teams to deliver end-to-end automation solutions.
Creating scripts and templates for infrastructure provisioning, working closely with development teams to establish CI/CD systems, and collaborating with vendors and IT personnel for troubleshooting are vital aspects of the role.
Additionally, the engineer will monitor and support all systems, develop custom scripts to enhance efficiency, and contribute to designing operational support systems.
Responsibilities also include installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems and software, overseeing security, backup, and redundancy strategies, and evaluating system performance to identify bottlenecks and develop solutions.
