This is an ONSITE position based out of our National Business Park, Maryland location. What You Will Do Design and develop enterprise-grade Java applications using OSGi framework principles for modular, dynamic service architecturesBuild and maintain applications on Apache Karaf, leveraging its runtime container capabilities for deploying and managing OSGi bundlesContribute to software-defined networking (SDN) platforms, developing controllers, plugins, and network management applicationsDevelop modular services that enable dynamic network configuration, monitoring, and orchestration capabilitiesDesign and implement RESTful APIs and northbound/southbound interfaces for network programmability and integrationBuild scalable microservices architectures that support distributed network functions and real-time data processingOptimize application performance for high-throughput, low-latency environments handling complex network trafficCollaborate with network engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative networking solutionsImplement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, and system-level tests for mission-critical componentsParticipate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and contribute to architectural decisionsEnsure adherence to agile development practices and configuration management standards using modern DevSecOps tools and workflowsTroubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems and network control applications Qualifications You Must Have A STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience5+ years of professional Java development experienceStrong expertise in OSGi framework architecture, including bundle lifecycle, service registry, and modularity principlesProven experience with Apache Karaf or similar OSGi runtime containers (e.g., Apache Felix, Eclipse Equinox)Deep understanding of Java frameworks including Spring, Spring Boot, and dependency injection patternsExperience with software-defined networking concepts, network protocols, and programmable network architecturesProficiency in building RESTful web services and working with API design patternsExperience with messaging systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming in JavaFamiliarity with version control using Git and CI/CD automation toolsStrong problem-solving abilities and experience debugging complex distributed systemsExcellent communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for innovation and collaborationActive TS/SCI security clearance with PolygraphU.S. citizenship is required Qualifications We Prefer Experience contributing to open-source SDN controller platforms and network virtualization projectsKnowledge of network protocols (e.g., OpenFlow, NETCONF, RESTCONF, BGP, OSPF)Experience with YANG data modeling and network device configuration managementFamiliarity with network function virtualization (NFV) and virtual network functions (VNF) Why Join Nightwing? Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
