Role overview
Our client, a global market leader in manufacturing, is looking for a Project Software Engineer / Automation Engineer / Controls Engineer to lead the redesign and implementation of their plant-wide industrial automation architecture.
This is a high-impact role combining hands-on controls engineering with project leadership, where you’ll define the new automation structure, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across the site.
Key responsibilities
Take technical lead in renewing and establishing the plant’s industrial automation structure and architecture.Own both software and hardware control technology for the site.Review the current automation setup and design a new architecture aligned with ISO industry standards.Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Production, Maintenance, IT, R&D, Logistics) and external partners/suppliers.Develop functional descriptions, support visualisation, and contribute to project documentation.Drive continuous improvement in automation reliability, maintainability, and performance.
Technical environment
PLCs: Siemens S7 & TIA Portal (core stack)SCADA / HMI: WinCC and/or Aveva SCADA (desirable)Networks, instrumentation & control, process visualisationProduction/process industry background strongly preferred
Profile
HBO-level (or equivalent) qualification in Process Automation, Control Engineering, or related field.5+ years’ relevant experience, ideally within the process/manufacturing industry.Specialist in Siemens PLCs (S7 & TIA), industrial networks, and instrumentation & control.Experience with visualisation software and writing functional specifications.Understanding of production processes; programming ability is a plus.Familiarity with WinCC and/or Aveva SCADA is advantageous.Strong organisational and communication skills; comfortable taking the lead and coordinating multi-party projects.Ambitious about personal and professional development.
