Senior Platform Engineer up to $220k + equity | New York / flexible hybrid I’m working with a fast-growing US AI company that is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build and operate the infrastructure behind a highly complex, large-scale technology platform. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, data ingestion, storage and retrieval. The platform operates at significant scale, handling tens of billions of images and large volumes of production data, so the team is looking for someone who is comfortable making architectural decisions around reliability, performance, storage and scalability. What you’ll be working on Large-scale data ingestion and storage systemsDistributed storage and retrieval architectureObject storage and database infrastructureContainerised services running in productionAWS, Kubernetes and TerraformCI/CD, infrastructure as code and GitOps workflowsHigh-throughput messaging and streaming systemsObservability, reliability and incident responseArchitecture and technical decision-making across the platform This is not a pure DevOps or infrastructure support role. The team is looking for someone with a strong software engineering background who can build, debug and operate production systems end to end. You’ll ideally have: 5+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong hands-on experience with AWS in productionExperience building or operating large-scale distributed systemsExposure to high-volume data ingestion, storage or retrieval systemsStrong experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CDSoftware engineering experience with languages such as Rust, Python or GoA good understanding of reliability, scalability and architectural trade-offs Experience with petabyte-scale data, distributed databases, Kafka, vector databases or large-scale search/indexing systems would be particularly relevant.
