About The Role
D-Wave is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (Platform Operations, Security & Observability) to join our DevOps team in New Haven, reporting to the DevOps Engineering Manager.
In this role, you will operate and improve hybrid infrastructure spanning AWS, on-premises environments, Kubernetes platforms, and software delivery pipelines.
Your responsibilities will emphasize one or more of the following areas: platform operations and software delivery, security and infrastructure hardening, or monitoring and observability.
We welcome candidates with deep experience in one or more of these areas and broad proficiency across DevOps practices.
Working closely with hardware, software, and DevOps teams, you will own operational issues and technical initiatives end-to-end, supporting D-Wave’s quantum computing services and hardware-integrated systems.
You will combine hands-on support with engineering improvements that make our systems more reliable, secure, and easier to maintain.
This is a hybrid role based in New Haven, CT, with at least three days per week on-site.
Candidates who can meet this schedule are preferred, though remote candidates may be considered.
What You'll Do
Own day-to-day support for AWS applications and shared infrastructure, resolving deployment, configuration, and runtime issuesMaintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and software release processes using tools such as GitHub Actions, including deployment reliability and recoverySupport repository onboarding, access requests, and ticketed infrastructure work, improving consistency through automation and self-serviceDevelop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, and BashStrengthen security across AWS, Kubernetes, and on-premises environments through access controls, secrets management, hardening, and patching, in partnership with enterprise security teamsIntegrate security scanning into engineering workflows and coordinate the prioritization and remediation of findingsSupport compliance evidence collection and Vanta workflows, incorporating security requirements into platform development and cloud migrationsImprove monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerting using tools such as Zabbix, Prometheus, OpenSearch, CloudWatch, and GrafanaPartner with application owners to improve instrumentation, define meaningful measures of service health, and improve production readinessImprove alert quality and develop runbooks to support effective incident responseLead complex troubleshooting and incident resolution across applications and infrastructure, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actionsCollaborate across teams, mentor teammates, and contribute to technical design, code reviews, and documentation
About You
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, systems engineering, site reliability engineering, or a related fieldDemonstrated ability to independently own production systems or technical initiatives, balancing day-to-day support with longer-term engineering improvementsSubstantial hands-on experience in one or more of the following: platform operations and software delivery, security and infrastructure hardening, or monitoring and observabilityStrong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across applications and infrastructureHands-on experience supporting and operating AWS infrastructurePractical experience deploying and troubleshooting Docker and Kubernetes workloadsExperience maintaining CI/CD pipelines and supporting software deploymentsExperience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or equivalent toolsProficiency in Python, Bash, or similar languages for automation and troubleshootingSolid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, routing, firewalls, and TLSWorking knowledge of infrastructure security practices and monitoring and logging toolsAbility to prioritize competing needs, communicate technical trade-offs, and contribute to mentoring, technical reviews, and documentation

The Base Pay Range For This Role Is
$125,000 – 187,000 USD (New Haven)
