Clerk Grade: 9/10; $133,348 - $146,945 plus superannuation
Employment Type: Ongoing, Fulltime
Location: Sydney, Parramatta, Gosford - Hybrid opportunity.
In-office requirement 2-3 days a week, which could be subject to change based on applicable DCS workplace policies.

About the team
Cloud Operations and Engineering is responsible for the ongoing operation, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise AWS and Azure platforms that underpin critical government digital services.
The team ensures platform availability, security, and performance, while maintaining operational standards, governance, and compliance across a multi-agency shared environment.
What you will do
The Senior Cloud Technical Lead (Azure) is a senior technical specialist position within the Cloud Operations team, reporting to the Cloud Product Manager.
The role is responsible for the operational leadership, reliability, and continuous improvement of AWS cloud platforms that underpin NSW Government digital services.
Working closely with the Cloud Product Manager, this role ensures cloud platforms are stable, secure, compliant, and aligned to product roadmaps and service outcomes.
The position acts as the senior technical authority for Azure operations, providing hands-on expertise, operational oversight, and guidance across complex, multi-account cloud environments.
This role suits an experienced cloud professional who understands when to operate at a deep technical level and when to leverage technology partners to deliver business technology outcomes.
Key accountabilities
Lead and coordinate the operation of our enterprise Azure cloud platforms ensuring high availability, performance, resilience, and effective Incident managementProvide senior technical leadership, setting standards and ensuring alignment between platform operations, architecture, and product strategy and supporting projects as requiredLead and manage technology vendors maintaining service levels, delivery and business outcomes in alignment with DCS prioritiesDrive automation, continuous improvement, and cost optimisation initiatives to enhance platform reliability, efficiency and maturityEnsure platforms meet security, risk, and compliance obligations, embedding controls and supporting audit and remediation activitiesBuild and maintain strong stakeholder and technology relationships, providing expert advice while supporting capability uplift through mentoring and knowledge sharing.Essential Requirements
Extensive engineering experience operating enterprise-scale Azure environments in production.Strong hands-on expertise with Azure services and experience working with technology partners to deliver technology servicesDemonstrated experience in cloud operations, Incident management, and platform reliability.Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (e.g.
CloudFormation, Terraform).Ability to work effectively in a multi stakeholder environment (technical and non-technical) in order to drive business outcomesExperience working in complex, regulated, or large enterprise environments.
Desirable Requirements
Experience with multi account landing zone architecturesFamiliarity with NSW Government or Australian Government security and cloud frameworksKnowledge of FinOps and cloud optimisation practicesAzure certification and/or ITIL certificationHow to apply
