Applications Engineer – Advanced Materials & Failure Analysis
Edmond, Oklahoma | $85,000–$100,000 + Benefits | 20–30% Travel
Are you the sort of engineer who likes to take things apart, understand why they failed and figure out how to solve unusual technical problems?
We’re recruiting for a specialist US technology manufacturer looking for an Applications Engineer to join its growing team in Edmond, Oklahoma.
You’ll work with a highly precise 5-axis CNC-based system used to mill, grind and polish materials at microscopic levels, predominantly supporting semiconductor and electronics failure analysis.
Customers might come to you with a failed semiconductor device and need to expose a specific component, layer or defect without damaging the surrounding material.
Your job is to figure out how to do it.
What you'll be doing
You’ll become a technical expert on the technology, working across applications, engineering, customers and new product development.
Day-to-day, that could mean developing a new sample-preparation method, investigating a customer problem, preparing semiconductor or materials samples, running a demonstration, training customers, troubleshooting an application or testing ideas for the next generation of the platform.
Around 20–30% international travel is expected for customer visits, training and industry events.
Who could fit?
We're deliberately keeping the background broad.
You could currently be a:
Failure Analysis Engineer / TechnicianMaterials or Metallurgical EngineerApplications EngineerMaterials Characterization / Microscopy SpecialistResearch Engineer / ScientistLaboratory or Engineering TechnicianSemiconductor / Electronics Engineer
Experience with metallography, sample/specimen preparation, microscopy, SEM, materials characterization, semiconductor failure analysis, cross-sectioning, precision machining, grinding or polishing would all be relevant.
You do not need to know this particular equipment already.
The company expects to invest significantly in your training.
What matters more is that you're hands-on, technically curious and enjoy figuring things out.
Why consider it?
This isn't a repetitive equipment-support position.
You'll work on different technical problems, interact directly with customers, develop new applications and contribute to next-generation product development.
There's also genuine scope to become a key technical expert within the business as the team grows.
