Ko tō tūranga – your role
As the Core Network DevOps Engineer your role is to design, implement and support the 24x7 operation of One NZ’s Core Mobile and Fixed Data Network DevOps domains.
You’ll be an active part of the DevOps function, delivering improvements in network capability and performance while supporting continuous improvement in customer experience.
Ko Tō Mahi – What You’ll Do
Deliver accurate, cost-effective network designs across medium to high complexity environments, considering end-to-end impacts.Identify key capacity and performance metrics and develop effective platform and domain management processes and reporting.Contribute to platform and domain roadmaps and network plans, and own implementation and acceptance plans.Peer review low-level and high-level network designs.Ensure implementation activities align with appropriate network change processes and quality standards.Deliver network changes on time and within budget while maintaining network integrity.Ensure all changes complete the required acceptance testing before live implementation.Resolve incidents within operational SLA targets and participate in 24x7 on-call rosters.Develop and implement processes, procedures, automation and AI workflows to improve operational performance.Maintain network integrity through an effective maintenance programme.

Extensive knowledge of Core Data DevOps platforms and technologies, including Mobile Data Core, Fixed Data Core and Mobile Signalling.Understanding of adjacent domains including mobile registers, IMS, fixed voice, messaging, virtual and container infrastructure, IP transport, security and enterprise technologies.Good knowledge of 3GPP and ETSI specifications.Experience with automation frameworks and scripting languages.Experience with virtualised and containerised environments such as VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenStack, Docker or Kubernetes.Experience using CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments, such as Azure DevOps.Understanding of ITIL methodologies and Agile ways of working.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build stakeholder relationships and make decisions under pressure.Ability to work effectively in a high-performing team and share platform and Core Domain knowledge.
