About The Role We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer (m/w/d) to join our team in Coburg, Bavaria. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust Java-based web applications that serve our digital platforms, HUK24.de and HUK.de. You will work within a cross-functional team throughout the entire software development lifecycle, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to translate digital innovation ideas into scalable technical solutions. Your expertise will contribute to designing new backend functionalities for our customer-facing portals, building integrations with existing backend systems, and ensuring the deployment, operation, and scaling of highly available backend services. Additionally, you will utilize automated testing tools to uphold high quality standards and optimize system performance, playing a key role in advancing our digital transformation initiatives. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a degree, vocational training, or equivalent qualification in the IT field, with a focus on software development. You should demonstrate strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication and teamwork skills, particularly within agile environments. Several years of experience developing Java applications using frameworks such as Spring Boot or Quarkus (preferably with MicroProfile) is essential. Familiarity with cloud environments, especially serverless architectures on AWS, REST APIs, and automation in CI/CD pipelines, is required. Knowledge of DevOps practices, including containerization, Infrastructure as Code, and system monitoring, is also important. A willingness to continuously learn new technologies and share knowledge through code reviews and collaborative practices will be highly valued. Responsibilities Develop and maintain backend Java web applications for HUK24.de and HUK.de, ensuring high performance and scalability.Collaborate within a cross-functional team to implement features across the entire software development lifecycle.Engage with internal stakeholders to advise on the technical feasibility of digital innovations and new functionalities.Design and implement new backend features to enhance the customer experience on digital platforms.Build and maintain interfaces to existing backend systems, ensuring seamless data exchange and system integration.Take responsibility for deploying, operating, and scaling backend services to meet business needs.Utilize automated testing tools such as JUnit, Postman, and Newman to ensure continuous quality assurance and system optimization.
