Role Description The Senior Biomedical Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at the Parkville, VIC campus. This role is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle management of medical equipment, including evaluation, commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning to support safe and effective clinical care. Day-to-day tasks include supervising equipment testing and calibration, coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements. The Senior Biomedical Engineer collaborates with clinical teams to understand technical needs, advises on technology planning and procurement, and provides expert guidance on equipment performance, risk management, and incident investigations. The role may also involve mentoring junior engineers and technicians, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and supporting research and innovation projects that rely on specialized medical technologies. Qualifications Strong foundation in Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles in a hospital environment.Demonstrated experience with Medical Equipment across a range of clinical specialties, including selection, commissioning, and performance evaluation.Proficiency in Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair coordination, and documentation of service activities.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; eligibility for or membership in a relevant professional engineering body is desirable.Knowledge of healthcare regulations, medical device standards, and risk management practices within a clinical setting.Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate complex technical information clearly, and provide training on equipment use and safety.Experience in leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in a healthcare or research environment.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to patient safety, quality, and innovation.Require further information - please visit RMH Career Portal - here https://careers.thermh.org.au/default/job/Senior-Biomedical-Engineer/8037-en_GB
