ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Data Engineer plays a critical role in the ongoing development and optimisation of Richmond Football Club's data ecosystem.
Responsible for the design, maintenance and enhancement of the Club's data warehouse and integration environment, this role ensures trusted, secure and accessible data is available to support decision making across all areas of the business.
Working across fan, football, consumer, commercial and corporate operations, the Data Engineer will develop scalable data pipelines, manage integrations between systems, and contribute to the overall quality, governance and performance of the Club's data architecture.
The role will work closely with stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with current and future business needs.
As Richmond continues to invest in its technology and analytics capabilities, the Data Engineer will play an important role in preparing and evolving the Club's data environment to support advanced reporting, automation, artificial intelligence initiatives and long-term business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Data Warehouse & Integration Development - Design, develop and maintain the Club's data warehouse, integrations and data pipelines, ensuring reliable and scalable data solutions across the organisation.
2.
Data Quality, Governance & Security - Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity and security while supporting governance frameworks and best practice data management.
3.
Platform Performance & Continuous Improvement - Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data systems and processes to improve performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
4.
Business Partnership & Analytics Enablement - Collaborate with stakeholders across the Club to understand business needs and deliver trusted data solutions that support reporting, analytics and future innovation.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
1.
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
2.
Demonstrated experience in a Data Engineer or similar role, with several years' experience in data engineering environments.
3.
Strong SQL skills and experience with cloud-based data platforms, including Microsoft Azure and Snowflake.
4.
Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes and integrations.
5.
Knowledge of data governance, security and documentation best practices.
6.
Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills.
7.
A collaborative approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
