An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to strategic technology and digital initiatives within a complex, regulated environment.This is an opportunity to join a highly respected engineering organisation operating within the Air Traffic Management, Flight Control and Aerospace domain. The organisation has approximately 500 employees globally, with around 80% of the engineering capability based in Australia. Your new role Working closely with business stakeholders, technical specialists, project teams, vendors and delivery partners, you will: Designing and delivering software to meet requirements including architecture, design, reuse, development, integration and verificationDefining and tailoring the software engineering environment and the process, practices and tools applicable to the project Ensuring that the designed solution is developed according to design, schedule, cost and quality expectations Identifying risks, and proposing effective solutions; executing mitigation actions and reporting on outcomes and residual risksThe ideal candidate will come from a complex, engineering-led environment where software is developed for mission-critical or safety-critical systems. Strong backgrounds include industries such as aerospace, defence, aviation, air traffic management, telecommunications, rail signalling, industrial control systems, embedded systems, real-time systems, and safety-critical software engineering As part of your technical leadership you are also accountable for Providing technical leadership and training on technical tasks (complex logical & numerical algorithms / performance issues / external interfaces / …) and technical reviews (workshops, peer reviews and project reviews). What you'll need to succeed To be considered, you will have: Must-have Language: deep knowledge of JavaIDE/CICD Tools: GITLab, Gradle, Cucumber, JIRA, IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ, VSCode)Experience with formal software engineering process and experience in the whole lifecyclewriting & reviewing design, requirements, tests and codeTDD approachExperience in working large scale and distributed systems, being part of a greater whole than your component team or feature team.Agile methodology: ScrumDevops culture and CICD methodologiesNice-to-have Language: any others Framework: Micro services, Swing, JavaFX, Core JavaEnvironment: Kubernetes, Helm, Kafka, RHEL, Rocky Linux Scaled agile experience: Less, SAFe or otherATM domain knowledgeExperience in software development in a critical safety environment Experience within complex and engineering-focused, involving large-scale, mission-critical systems where reliability, safety and performance are paramount. This is not a typical web development environment. Engineers are expected to understand the business domain, operational logic and system behaviour, rather than simply working with a technology stack.
