System Engineer

Systems Engineer (M365, Azure & Meraki) Permanent, full time Melbourne $120,000 - $140,000 (DOE) About the opportunity: A national retailer with a large store network, distribution centres and corporate offices is looking for a Systems Engineer to be the senior technical owner of its infrastructure, cloud and network. You'll be the L3 escalation point, the person who gets new sites ready to trade, and the one who keeps automating and simplifying the environment. It's a broad, hands on role with real ownership and visibility across the business. What you'll be doing: Acting as the L3 escalation point for infrastructure, cloud and network issuesOwning M365, Azure and Intune tenant configuration, policies and complianceManaging AD, Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA and privileged accessLooking after Windows Server and virtual infrastructure, including patching and lifecycleRunning Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, security appliances and SDWAN across every siteKeeping backup, DR and monitoring in shape, with restores tested rather than assumedGetting network and infrastructure ready for new stores, refits and office movesWorking with carriers, MSPs and vendors on faults and provisioningRemediating vulnerabilities and supporting cyber incidents alongside the security teamScripting away repetitive admin with PowerShellMentoring the service desk and desktop support teams What we need to see: 5+ years in systems, infrastructure or network engineering across a multisite businessStrong M365, Azure, Windows Server, AD and Entra ID administrationHands on Meraki experience (switching, wireless, SDWAN) or a comparable enterprise platformSound grasp of TCP/IP, routing, LAN, WAN, WiFi, DNS, DHCP and VPNExperience with backup, DR, monitoring, patching and vulnerability remediationStrong root cause analysis within an ITIL aligned ITSM environmentSolid PowerShell scriptingComfortable with after hours change windows and an on call rosterClear communication with non technical stakeholders Bonus points: Azure Administrator Associate certificationCCNA or similar networking certificationMicrosoft 365, Endpoint, Identity or Security certificationsInfrastructure as Code or configuration management toolingRetail, POS or distribution centre experienceNew site builds, office relocations or cloud migrationsITIL 4 Foundation
