Data Migration Engineer

Major Enterprise TransformationLong-Term ContractPerth CBDYour new role We are seeking an experienced Data Migration Engineer to join a major enterprise transformation initiative focused on modernising and enhancing critical business systems and data capabilities. Working within a multidisciplinary project team, you will play a key role in preparing, transforming, integrating, and validating data across multiple business applications. This role will suit someone who enjoys working with complex datasets, solving data challenges, and developing robust solutions that support large-scale business and technology change. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders, technical specialists, and project delivery teams in a fast-paced environment where data quality and accuracy are critical to project success. You will contribute to the design and development of data pipelines, transformation processes, and integration solutions that support enterprise-wide initiatives. The role will involve analysing data from multiple source systems, implementing transformation logic, supporting data quality activities, and ensuring information is fit for purpose throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with stakeholders, you will investigate data issues, perform validation and reconciliation activities, and support various testing and deployment phases. You will also help establish repeatable data processes, maintain technical documentation, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of development and delivery practices. What you'll need to succeed The successful candidate will bring strong experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, data warehousing, or large-scale data migration projects. You will possess advanced SQL and Python development skills and be comfortable working with large and complex datasets sourced from multiple enterprise applications. You will have experience designing and developing data pipelines, implementing business and transformation rules, and performing data reconciliation and quality assurance activities. Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities are essential, along with the ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment. Experience with modern cloud-based data platforms, Databricks, Spark, and data lake technologies will be highly regarded. Exposure to DevOps practices, version control tools, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery methodologies will also be beneficial.
