Role Description The Modern Data Stack Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure across modern cloud-based platforms. Day-to-day tasks include building and optimizing Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, configuring data warehousing solutions, and creating scalable, reliable data models that support analytics and reporting needs. The person in this role collaborates with product, engineering, and business teams to understand data requirements, ensure data quality, and enable self-service analytics. They will monitor and troubleshoot data workflows, manage performance and cost optimization in the data stack, and document standards, best practices, and data definitions. The role also involves evaluating new tools in the modern data ecosystem, contributing to architecture decisions, and supporting secure, compliant data operations. Qualifications Strong data engineering skills, including experience with modern data stack tools and cloud-based data platforms.Proficiency in data modeling and designing scalable, well-structured schemas for analytics and reporting use cases.Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and orchestration, focusing on reliability and performance.Experience with data warehousing concepts and implementation, including building and maintaining warehouse layers.Applied data analytics skills, including querying, exploration, and translating data into actionable insights for stakeholders.Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python).Experience with version control, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure-as-code tools for data workflows.Understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and best practices for handling sensitive information.Ability to collaborate in remote teams, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical partners, and document work effectively.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
