Junior Software Engineer (Microsoft / Azure, Fully Remote) – Extrada Tech Job Title: Junior Software Engineer Location: Remote (in-person events but not required, preference in Ontario) Salary: $70,000–$80,000 CAD per year, based on experience Job Summary Extrada Tech is a Microsoft Solutions Partner (Data & AI) based in Guelph Ontario, delivering data, automation, AI, and custom software solutions for mid-market organizations across Canada and the United States. We are seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and support the custom applications and integrations that sit at the heart of our client projects. In this role, you will build web applications, APIs, and AI-enabled workflows on Microsoft Azure, and connect them to the rest of the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Foundry, and Dynamics 365. This is a fully remote position where you will work alongside a close-knit team of architects, data engineers, and consultants to turn client requirements into secure, reliable, production-ready integrations. Key Responsibilities Application Development: Design, build, and maintain custom web applications and portals for clients, such as ordering wizards, quoting tools, member portals, and line-of-business apps. Write clean, testable code across the front end and back end, and take features from requirements through to deployment.APIs & Integrations: Build and consume REST APIs to connect client systems, including ERPs, CRMs, accounting platforms, and third-party SaaS tools. Integrate with Microsoft Graph, Dataverse, and Power Platform through custom connectors, webhooks, and Azure Functions.Azure Cloud Solutions: Develop and deploy solutions on Azure services such as App Service, Azure Functions, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Storage, and Service Bus. Help plan and carry out migrations and environment moves between Azure tenants and subscriptions.AI-Enabled Applications: Build AI features into client solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Document Intelligence, and Azure AI Search, including document processing, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows. Support Copilot Studio agents with custom actions and back-end services.Security, DevOps & Quality: Implement authentication and authorization with Microsoft Entra ID, manage secrets with Key Vault, and follow secure coding practices. Maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and monitor applications with Application Insights.Collaboration & Client Delivery: Work closely with solutions architects, data engineers, and project managers to scope work, estimate effort, and deliver on time. Join client meetings to clarify requirements, demo progress, and explain technical decisions to non-technical audiences. Produce clear documentation and handover materials.Continuous Improvement: Contribute to our internal libraries, templates, and standards so each project starts from a stronger foundation. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. (Equivalent work experience or relevant certifications will also be considered.)Experience: 2–5 years of professional software development experience, ideally including building and deploying applications to Azure. Consulting, agency, or client-facing experience is a strong asset.
