Remote for candidates that are not local. 100 N Senate Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46204 Job Type: Contract Work Arrangement: [Hybrid/Remote] Industry: Public Sector / Healthcare Technology Experience Level: Senior Experience Required: 11+ years overall, including 7+ years of Salesforce experience About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Salesforce Developer to support, enhance, and modernize a large-scale Salesforce platform supporting state wide public health programs. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on Salesforce development experience, strong integration and architecture skills, and experience working with secure, highly regulated enterprise environments. This role will be responsible for application support, development, integrations, platform security, DevOps, documentation, and technical knowledge transfer. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Salesforce applications.Develop solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce Flows, SOQL/SOSL, and advanced Salesforce configuration.Troubleshoot complex Salesforce issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production incidents.Monitor platform performance, jobs, logs, APIs, governor limits, errors, and system health.Design and support REST/API integrations and middleware solutions such as Mule Soft.Develop secure and scalable integration patterns between Salesforce and external enterprise systems.Lead code reviews and enforce Salesforce development, security, testing, and coding standards.Manage deployments across Dev, QA, UAT, Staging, and Production environments using CI/CD and version control.Support Salesforce security controls including MFA, least-privilege access, encryption, Event Monitoring, Field Audit Trail, and identity governance.Participate in vulnerability remediation, security assessments, architectural reviews, and compliance activities.Develop architecture diagrams, technical design documents, process flows, runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.Support Salesforce sandbox strategy, environment management, backup/restore, disaster recovery, and platform continuity.Perform platform health assessments and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, and reliability.Provide technical training and mentorship to internal Salesforce teams.Support knowledge transfer and transition ongoing platform ownership to internal staff.Evaluate Salesforce licensing, API usage, Experience Cloud licensing, feature tiers, and platform costs.Help forecast future licensing requirements and optimize license utilization.Required Qualifications11+ years of professional experience in enterprise application development.7+ years of dedicated Salesforce development experience.5+ years of hands-on experience with Apex, LWC, Flows, SOQL/SOSL, and advanced Salesforce configuration.5+ years supporting large and complex Salesforce environments with strict SLAs and security requirements.5+ years of API design, integration patterns, middleware, and enterprise data exchange experience.3+ years working with security hardening, identity governance, encryption, auditability, and compliance-driven environments.3+ years of CI/CD, automated testing, environment promotion, and DevOps practices.3+ years creating technical architecture diagrams, design documents, process flows, and operational documentation.3+ years of experience with Salesforce licensing models and platform optimization.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, and transferring knowledge to technical teams.Preferred QualificationsSalesforce Platform Developer II certification.Salesforce Experience Cloud Consultant, Integration Architect, or Identity & Access Management certification.Experience in public-sector, healthcare, regulated, or compliance-driven environments.Experience with observability and error-monitoring platforms.Knowledge of secure cloud integration patterns.Familiarity with SRE, resilience engineering, performance benchmarking, and disaster recovery practices.Experience with statewide or enterprise-scale system modernization initiatives.Why This Role?This is an opportunity to work on a mission-critical Salesforce environment where you will have significant responsibility across development, architecture, integrations, security, DevOps, platform optimization, and technical leadership.
