About The Role We are seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Architect (m/w/d) specializing in OpenStack and VMware to join our remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the technical development and strategic evolution of our multi-tenant cloud platforms. You will design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions that support our expanding managed services and data center operations. As the highest technical authority within our cloud team, you will influence the future architecture, shape new cloud services, and ensure the platform’s scalability, security, and efficiency. This position offers the flexibility of working fully remote within Germany, allowing you to collaborate with a talented team and contribute to innovative cloud solutions from anywhere. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a relevant university degree in computer science or a comparable qualification, complemented by extensive experience in designing and operating complex cloud and data center infrastructures. You should have at least three years of hands-on experience specifically in designing multi-tenant platforms. Expertise in OpenStack and VMware products such as vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and vCloud Director is essential. Deep knowledge of data center network architecture, enterprise storage, and security concepts is required. Familiarity with automation tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible, APIs) is highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills in both German and English are necessary, along with relevant certifications in cloud or network technologies, which are considered a plus. Responsibilities Architect and continuously develop our multi-tenant cloud platforms based on OpenStack and VMware technologies.Design data center, network, and security architectures, including backbone, firewalls, and segmentation strategies.Integrate network, security, storage, and compute components to ensure seamless platform operation.Create detailed platform blueprints, operational concepts, and scaling models to support growth.Conduct sizing and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network resources to meet current and future demands.Design innovative cloud services and contribute to expanding our service portfolio.Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their suitability for platform integration.Support pre-sales activities through technical architecture design, capacity planning, and effort estimation, dedicating approximately 10-15% of your time.Maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, standards, and guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.Act as a technical sparring partner for engineers, consultants, and team leads, providing expert guidance.Participate in team-based on-call rotations to ensure platform availability and reliability.
