Description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Data Engineer to join an innovative MedTech environment working at the intersection of clinical research, data engineering, medical imaging and AI. The role will focus on designing and building scalable data pipelines and image-intake infrastructure supporting clinical evidence generation, research and regulatory submissions. You’ll work closely with Data Science, Clinical Operations, Software Engineering, DevOps, R&D and Quality/Regulatory teams, turning complex clinical and regulatory requirements into reliable, production-ready data solutions. What You’ll Be Doing Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for clinical, analytics, ML and regulatory use cases.Develop and maintain clinical data warehouses/data lakes with strong traceability and data lineage.Build maintainable and testable solutions using Python and SQL.Work with medical imaging data and DICOM standards.Deploy and integrate pipelines within AWS environments using CI/CD.Implement data validation, quality controls, monitoring and documentation.Maintain data integrity and traceability in line with ALCOA+ and 21 CFR Part 11 principles.Support data security, privacy and sovereignty requirements.Produce technical documentation supporting validation, version control and change management.Collaborate with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Clinical Operations and Quality/Regulatory teams.Help establish data-engineering standards and best practices across the clinical data function. What We’re Looking For Ideally, you’ll bring: 5+ years' experience in data engineering or software development.Strong hands-on capability with Python and SQL.Experience designing modern ETL/ELT pipelines.Experience building scalable cloud-based data pipelines and warehouses.Strong exposure to AWS, ideally including technologies such as Lambda, ECS or Redshift.Experience with CI/CD, version control and infrastructure automation.Strong understanding of data quality, security, traceability and documentation.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline; Master's preferred.Strong communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams. Experience in all of these areas isn't essential, but we'd be particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have exposure to: DICOM / medical imagingImage annotations or segmentation workflowsClinical research or clinical dataMedical devices / healthcare technologyISO 13485, FDA or HIPAA-regulated environmentsTerraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code toolsBroader software or full-stack engineering Working Environment This is a highly cross-functional position interacting with: Clinical Operations | Data Science | DevOps | R&D | Quality & Regulatory | External Imaging Sites The role also involves collaboration with US-based colleagues, so some flexibility with working hours will be required, typically from 8am AWST around 3–4 days per week. Why Consider It? This isn't a traditional data engineering position where you're simply moving data from A to B. You'll be applying your engineering skills to clinical data, medical imaging, AI/ML and regulatory evidence — helping build the infrastructure behind technology being developed for healthcare.
