You will work across ITS, traffic signals, electrical and road lighting disciplines, collaborating with talented professionals on major Queensland and national infrastructure projects that benefit clients and communities.
What You’ll Do
Deliver ITS and electrical solutions from concept and detailed design through to construction support, commissioning and handover.
Contribute to the delivery of ITS, traffic signals, electrical and public lighting designs for major infrastructure projects in Queensland and nationally.
Lead the delivery of smaller projects and work packages across ITS, enforcement, traffic signals and road lighting.
Deliver electrical and road lighting designs in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 and applicable Energy Queensland and Energex requirements, including Rate 2 and Rate 3 road lighting submissions, approvals and close-out documentation.
Use tools such as AutoCAD, PowerCAD, AGI32 and Perfect Lite to develop coordinated, constructable designs and documentation.
Champion quality assurance, interdisciplinary coordination, design verification and technical excellence.
Support client and authority engagement, including liaison with Energex, Energy Queensland, transport agencies and local government, as well as business development and bid preparation.
Contribute to emerging transport technologies, including connected and automated vehicles, electric vehicle infrastructure, smart motorways and AI-enabled detection systems.
This role can be based in WSP in Australia's Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offices.
About You
You are an experienced ITS and Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Intelligent Transport Systems and traffic signals, supported by practical road lighting and electrical design capability.
You enjoy solving multidisciplinary design challenges and engaging with clients, authorities and project teams to deliver safe, compliant and constructable outcomes.
In addition, you will bring the following skills and attributes:
At least 5 years’ experience in ITS, traffic signals, electrical, road lighting or transport technology design.
RPEQ and/or Chartered status in Information, Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering (or actively working towards registration).
Demonstrated experience delivering ITS and traffic signal designs for road or transport infrastructure projects.
Experience with Energex Rate 2 and Rate 3 road lighting design, including electrical reticulation, design documentation, authority submissions and approvals.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with relevant electrical and lighting design tools such as PowerCAD, AGI32 and Perfect Lite.
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines and influence project outcomes.
