This role combines deep technical expertise, architectural ownership, and team leadership, with a focus on building scalable, resilient, event-driven microservices in a highly regulated financial environment.Strong backend engineering experience designing and operating secure, scalable services (Java or JVM‑based environments preferred).Design, build, and operate backend services as the organization modernizes from on‑prem to AWS, applying cloud‑native and event‑driven patterns to improve reliability, security, and developer velocity.
Champion build‑it / run‑it ownership, ensuring services meet clear standards for quality, observability, and operational excellence.Accelerate delivery through AI‑ and agentic‑first engineering practices, establishing safe, repeatable workflows that improve throughput and quality while maintaining strong validation, security, and governance.
The ideal candidate:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Modernization & Cloud Transformation
Drive migration of legacy systems from on-prem to AWS cloud-native architectureDecompose monolithic applications into scalable microservicesIntroduce and implement event-driven design patterns (pub/sub)
Own Backend Architecture (End-to-End)
Design and deliver:APIs and service interfacesData models (relational + NoSQL)Messaging patterns and integrationsEnsure systems are secure, scalable, and highly available
Build & Operate Cloud-Native Services (AWS)
Design, build, and maintain backend services using AWS tools/servicesApply cloud-native patterns to improve scalability and reliabilitySupport DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines while improving engineering velocity and system resilience
Drive Engineering Excellence & Innovation
