Description
Profectus is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to support systems engineering activities on a project within an Australian Government agency.
You will provide systems engineering management and technical advice across capability development, acquisition, integration, sustainment and modernisation activities.
The work covers engineering governance, technical assurance, system-of-systems integration and the application of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Key Responsibilities
Provide systems engineering management and technical leadership across a portfolio of capability programsProvide specialist engineering advice supporting capability development, acquisition, integration and sustainmentCoordinate and provide technical direction to APS and contracted engineering personnelEstablish and coordinate engineering governance activities, technical review forums and engineering working groupsReview technical documentation, engineering artefacts and contractor deliverables for completeness and qualityIdentify, assess and manage engineering risks, issues and dependenciesAssess system-of-systems integration requirements, interoperability and capability dependenciesSupport the development and review of technical strategies, architectures and planning documentationSupport the adoption of MBSE for requirements management, architecture development, integration planning and lifecycle managementIdentify opportunities to apply digital engineering, automation and AI-enabled tools to engineering analysis and assuranceRepresent engineering interests at design reviews, workshops and governance forumsPrepare reports, briefs and recommendations for senior leadership
Required Experience
Demonstrated experience providing systems engineering leadership or management within Defence or similarly complex, large-scale government programsExperience applying systems engineering principles across the capability lifecycle, including development, acquisition, integration, sustainment and modernisationExperience in engineering governance, technical assurance, engineering risk management and engineering reviewsExperience reviewing and assuring complex technical documentation, engineering artefacts and contractor deliverablesUnderstanding of, and experience applying or advising on, MBSE principles and methodsExperience with systems integration, interoperability and system-of-systems engineeringDemonstrated ability to engage and influence senior Defence, government, industry and technical stakeholders, including ADF members, APS personnel and contractorsAbility to provide senior technical and strategic engineering advice to decision makersStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of executive-level briefs and reports
Desirable Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related disciplineFormal systems engineering certification or professional accreditation, such as INCOSE ASEP, CSEP or ESEPFormal training or certification in MBSE or digital engineering tools and languages such as SysMLExperience applying automation or AI-enabled engineering tools to support analysis, traceability or assuranceExperience within Defence capability management, acquisition, integration or sustainmentExperience on Joint or Integrated Force capability programsProject Management, Program Management or Engineering Management qualifications
