AWS Migration Engineer | Major Australian Bank Contract - 12 months, likely extensions Day rate - $900-1000 3 days in Sydney CBD office Full work rights in Australia needed About the Opportunity A major Australian bank is seeking an AWS Migration Engineer to help move infrastructure workloads from on-premises environments into AWS. You will be hands-on across migration planning, build, testing and cutover, working within the bank’s established cloud platform and security standards. This role is best suited to an infrastructure or cloud engineer who has delivered server and application migrations into AWS, with Python skills to automate migration tasks and experience handling the data associated with those workloads. Key Responsibilities Assess on-premises servers, applications, storage and network dependencies to prepare workloads for migration.Build and execute migration plans, including testing, cutover, rollback and post-migration support.Migrate infrastructure workloads into AWS and resolve technical issues across compute, storage, networking and access.Use Python to automate discovery, configuration, validation and reporting tasks.Support the migration and validation of workload data, working with database and application teams where required.Ensure migrated workloads meet the bank’s requirements for security, monitoring, resilience and operational support.Document migration steps, technical decisions and handover procedures. What You’ll Bring Hands-on experience migrating on-premises infrastructure and applications into AWS.Strong infrastructure engineering skills across servers, virtualisation, networking and storage.Practical AWS experience with services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM and CloudWatch.Experience with migration tools such as AWS Application Migration Service, Migration Hub or DataSync.Python scripting skills used to automate infrastructure or migration work.An understanding of data transfer, integrity checks and validation during workload migrations.Experience delivering changes in complex production environments. Experience in banking or another regulated environment, along with Terraform and CI/CD skills, would be highly regarded.
