What You'll Do
As Full-Stack Engineer Director within Tech@BCG’s IT & Business Platforms engineering organization, you will set the technical direction for the Frontier Self-Service Experience Platform, owning architecture decisions and technical delivery end-to-end across front-end, back-end, integrations, AI components, and cloud infrastructure.
You will define engineering standards and best practices, lead the evolution of our technology stack, and act as the senior technical authority for design reviews, build-vs-buy decisions, and platform scalability, resilience, and security.
Partnering closely with Product Management and senior engineering leaders, you will translate ambitious product roadmaps into a coherent, maintainable technical architecture that can scale across a large, global, matrixed organization.
You will lead and develop a distributed team of engineers and engineering managers, driving delivery of high-quality, high-impact products while coaching the next generation of technical leaders.
You will chair architecture and governance forums with senior stakeholders, resolve escalated or highly ambiguous technical challenges, and represent full-stack engineering in broader technology governance — including integration points with platform engineering, DevSecOps, security, and enterprise architecture.
You are expected to operate with a high degree of independence, exercising sound judgment on complex, business-critical decisions with limited oversight.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
Identifying and framing highly complex, ambiguous technical challenges — cutting through competing constraints across front-end, back-end, and infrastructure to address root causes and reduce complexity for the wider organization.
Performing and driving rigorous, logical, and accurate technical analysis, drawing out innovative architectural insights rather than settling for surface-level fixes.
Writing clear and concise communications and leading conversations and meetings effectively — framing complex, ambiguous information at the right level of detail and technicality, and developing narratives that influence engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to reach resolution.
Structuring, planning, and prioritizing complex technical programs; anticipating and managing changing priorities while driving and delivering high-quality output mindful of impact on the broader business.
Coaching and developing a distributed team and network of engineers — striking the right balance between empowerment and managerial direction, embracing change with adaptability and agility, and performing with the highest level of integrity and a growth mindset that generates trust across the organization.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (must have); relevant cloud or architecture certifications are a plus.
10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant demonstrated technical leadership designing and delivering enterprise-scale, full-stack & AI-powered platforms end-to-end (must have).
Deep, hands-on expertise across modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular), back-end languages and services (e.g., Node.js, Java, .NET, Python), and cloud-native architecture on Azure and/or AWS, including API-first and event-driven design (must have).
Proven track record leading and developing distributed engineering teams and engineering managers within a global, matrixed organization, including setting technical standards and mentoring senior engineers (must have).
Experience integrating modern DevSecOps ecosystems and CI/CD pipelines, and familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools and practices; experience operating in a professional services or consulting environment is a plus (preferred).
Who You'll Work With
You will work within Tech@BCG's IT & Business Platforms engineering organization, partnering daily with Product Management, Platform Engineering, Security, and DevSecOps teams to design and deliver scalable full-stack platforms.
You will also engage regularly with regional engineering leads and senior Tech@BCG leadership as the escalation point and technical authority for full-stack architecture and delivery.
