Software Engineer

Software Engineer -Belfast | Hybrid | Permanent MCS Group is working with a growing technology company in Belfast that is looking to add 2 Software Engineers to its growing development team. This is a great opportunity for a software engineer with around 1-3 years of commercial experience who wants to build strong backend engineering skills while working with modern cloud technologies and avail of the support of some brilliant leaders in their field along with some of NI's best and most experienced software engineers. The Role You'll join an established engineering team building and improving software used by enterprise customers. The role will be primarily backend focused, with exposure to APIs, distributed services, cloud infrastructure and modern software engineering practices. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of real development work while receiving support and mentoring from more experienced engineers. What You'll Be Doing Develop and maintain backend applications and servicesBuild and integrate REST APIsWrite clean, maintainable and well-tested codeWork with databases and data-driven applicationsSupport applications running within cloud environmentsWork with containerised applications using DockerContribute to code reviews and technical discussionsWork closely with engineering, product and other technical teamsHelp troubleshoot issues and improve application performance What We're Looking For You'll ideally have 1-3 years of commercial software development experience and a genuine interest in backend engineering. Experience across some of the following would be useful: Node.js and/or PythonREST APIs and backend application developmentSQL or NoSQL databasesGit and modern development workflowsDockerCloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCPAutomated testing and good software engineering practicesExposure to Kubernetes, React, graph technologies or AI-related development would be useful, but none are essential. More important is a strong foundation in software development, a willingness to learn and an interest in developing your backend and cloud engineering skills.
