Role Summary
Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of complex electrical systems for hyperscale and AI data centres across North America.
This is a remote position within an international engineering firm recognized for its innovation and expertise in mission-critical infrastructure.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, modelling, and implementation of power systems that ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance with all applicable codes.
You will work closely with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to deliver electrical systems that support high-capacity, technology-driven environments.

What You Will Do
Lead electrical engineering design activities on major projects in Canada and the United StatesDesign, model, and simulate electrical systems for hyperscale and AI data centresDevelop power distribution systems including MV/LV, UPS, standby generators, and security systemsPrepare engineering calculations, schematic layouts, and detailed designsProduce technical documentation such as design criteria and specificationsCoordinate with architects and engineers to integrate BIM models and resolve conflictsReview shop drawings and ensure compliance with codes and safety standardsUse BIM tools to virtually construct electrical systems and coordinate with other disciplinesTravel to client sites across Canada and the United States (including Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas, Colorado, and Virginia)Manage and coordinate projects, including on-site supervisionConduct site visits to monitor construction progress and resolve technical issuesUtilize laser scanning technology to document installation status
What We Expect
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution10–15 years of relevant experience, ideally in the construction or mission-critical industryPrior experience with data centre or other large-scale industrial projects (preferred)Strong knowledge of MV/LV power distribution, UPS, generators, redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N), and energy efficiency principlesLicensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng in Canada or PE in the US) is an assetThorough understanding of NEC, IEEE, CSA, and international electrical codes applicable to mission-critical facilitiesProficiency with BIM (Autodesk Revit), CAD, and related engineering toolsExperience with power system studies (short circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash analysis) using SKM, Etap, or EasyPowerWillingness to travel to client sites in Canada and the United States (Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas, Colorado, and Virginia)Experience with underground duct bank ampacity/heat (Neher-McGrath) studiesStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage projects and supervise on-site activities effectivelyMust be legally authorized to work in Canada
