We are now looking for a Backend Development Lead to join our Software organization in Oulu. In this role, you will guide a backend team building the secure, reliable and scalable services at the core of iLOQ 5 Series+, while staying hands-on with the code yourself. This is a role for an experienced software professional who enjoys solving complex problems, takes ownership beyond writing code and wants to influence both technical solutions and the way software is developed. What you'll do As our Backend Development Lead, you will guide the day-to-day development work of a Backend software team while remaining closely involved in technical delivery. You will: Lead and coordinate the team’s backend development activitiesSupport the team in turning product and business priorities into clear, achievable technical plans and predictable delivery without losing sight of quality and long-term maintainabilityParticipate hands-on in the design and implementation of backend services and APIsFacilitate technical discussions and help the team make well-considered architectural and implementation decisionsPromote end-to-end ownership, including development, testing, releasing, monitoring and maintaining servicesDevelop engineering practices related to code quality, reviews, test automation, CI/CD, security and observability, including the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted engineering toolsWork closely with Product Owners, Software Architects, Test Leads, cloud specialists and other stakeholdersIdentify dependencies, risks and blockers, and drive their resolution together with the relevant stakeholdersCoach team members, share knowledge and create an environment where people can learn and take responsibility What you'll bring To succeed in this role, we expect you to have: Strong professional experience in backend software development, including leading, coordinating or facilitating the work of a development teamHands-on experience with C# and .NET or comparable backend technologiesExperience with cloud-based software development, preferably in AWS environmentsA good understanding of microservice architectures, APIs and distributed systems, databases, integrations and cloud-native developmentFamiliarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing and modern DevOps practicesThe ability to combine technical considerations with customer, product and business needsThe confidence to make progress in a complex environment and help others do the sameA proactive and collaborative working style with strong communication skills, including professional written and spoken EnglishAbility and willingness to coach team members. Experience in any of the following is considered an advantage: Secure or business-critical software systemsMonitoring, observability and service reliabilityLeading modernization or cloud transformation initiativesWorking across software, hardware and cloud boundariesApplying AI tools and agentic workflows in software engineeringCoaching developers or facilitating technical communities.
