A build-and-own contractor role for an established project and portfolio management platform used across the project lifecycle. The position suits someone who understands earned value and real project operations, and will extend, harden, and integrate the platform with manufacturing, estimating, time-tracking, and production-planning systems.

Highlights

Contractor role with ownership of an established project and portfolio management platform, combining software development with real-world project management knowledge, system integration, cost control, and process improvement.

Description

About the role InfraMOD is hiring a contractor to help build and own our in-house project and portfolio management platform: the system our project managers and contracts team will run every job on from award to close-out. The platform already covers earned value (CPI, EAC, GP percent), a two-gate change order approval workflow, contingency reserve governance, and project baseline control, and now needs to connect cleanly to Trimble Tekla PowerFab, JobBOSS, and our in-house time tracker and production planner so cost and schedule data moves in without manual re-entry. This is a build-and-own role for someone who has run real projects on earned value principles, not someone coding to a spec they did not help write. You will take a system that already works and extend it, harden it, and connect it to the tools our shop and project teams use every day. Reports to: Plant Supervisor Works with: Director of Contracts, Project Management, Procurement Manager, in-house process improvement and estimating team on earned value and change order rules; coordinates with the team building InfraMOD's shop capacity and production planning tools, which share the same underlying data Engagement: Three months- task based contract, temporary. Part-time or full-time considered Location: Remote Compensation: Determined based on experience What you will do · Design and build features across a Python backend and a React and TypeScript front end, extending the project and portfolio platform's earned value engine: cost baselines, change order (NOC) approvals, contingency reserves, and cost forecasting. · Build the integrations that bring estimate, cost, and schedule data in from Trimble Tekla PowerFab and job and shop floor data from JobBOSS, and reconcile both against our in-house time tracker and production planner. · Translate project management and earned value principles, PMI EVM practice, baseline control, and change management, directly into the system's data model and approval workflows, working from real project documents such as job estimating sheets, change order logs, and contingency ledgers. · Own security end to end: authentication, multi-factor login, role-based and project-level access control, and hardening the system against common web attack paths. · Use AI coding tools as your default way of working. This system was built using AI-assisted development and we want that pace to continue, not slow down once a single developer owns it. · Write the tests, documentation, and handover material needed to leave InfraMOD with a stable, secure system at the end of the engagement. What you will need · Real project management experience, ideally PMP or equivalent, with practitioner-level command of earned value management: CPI, SPI, EAC, baseline control, not just the textbook definitions. · Professional experience designing and shipping full stack web applications end to end, including the architecture decisions: a Python backend, a modern JavaScript or TypeScript front end, and a relational database. · Application security expertise: authentication and authorization design, encryption, and defending against common web vulnerabilities. · Comfort working with AI coding assistants as a core part of how you build software, so a small team can move at the pace of a much larger one. · Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, Trimble Tekla PowerFab and JobBOSS, or comparable ERP or production systems in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. · Experience in structural steel fabrication, construction, or another project-based industry. · Experience integrating time and attendance or shop floor data into a planning or cost system.
